1 Samuel 17: 26-37

Perspective is the lens through which we see the world which helps us to make decisions. The way that you see things determines the way that you will act on them.

Everyone on the way to fulfil destiny must have a different perspective from everybody else. In the story of David and Goliath, Saul and all his army, including David’s brothers (even your own family members can have opposing perspective from you) saw Goliath as a giant that they needed to avoid or run away from, but David saw him as an uncircumcised philistine presenting an opportunity for David to demonstrate the power and the supremacy of God.

A lot of times, our perspective is based on our philosophy; what we have decided to be true. So, we tend to use the lens of what we have come to believe to view everything going on around us. As people of destiny, our perspective must be victory oriented and our philosophy must be Christ focussed. We want to make sure to adhere to the warnings of Apostle Paul in Colossians 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ”

Our perspective must come from the Word of God. How does the Lord see mountains? He sees them leveled and moved by faith. We are to have the same perspective (see Mark 11:23) Your perspective is formed by what you believe and what you believe is based on what gets to your heart. No wonder God tells us in Proverbs 4:23 to keep our hearts with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. What goes into our hearts on a daily basis determines how we perceive things.

What you think goes to your heart, what is in your heart determines your life. To change your life, you must change your perspective, to change your perspective, you must change your thinking, to change your thinking, you must have the Word of God. Romans 12:2.

Human philosophy makes the Word of God ineffective. There are some man made philosophies that we have come to believe are from scripture. Search the scriptures to form your perspective. What traditions and beliefs have you held in high regards and clouding your perspective as a person of purpose? Is it family tradition? Is it church or denominational tradition that is not supported by scripture? Is it societal belief or tradition that you have come to accept? David’s focus on God and His Word gave him a victorious perspective and this will do the same for you! You are set for the throne, so begin to see yourself as a king. Kings rule, you will rule in Jesus Name. Amen
